Gempar! Lelaki Terkejut Buaya Tiba-Tiba Ada Di Bawah Katilnya

Memang sukar dipercayai apabila seekor buaya berjaya menyelinap masuk ke dalam sebuah rumah tumpangan yang berdekatan dengan dari sebatang sungai. Apa yang lebih memeranjatkan lagi, buaya tersebut dilihat bersembunyi di bawah katil sebuah rumah yang sewa oleh seorang lelaki. Kes seperti ini memang tidak pernah didengari sebelum ini. Tetapi kes yang melibatkan haiwan seperti ular memang ada. Ini kerana fizikal yang kecil memudahkan ia menyusup masuk ke dalam rumah.

HARARE, Zimbabwe – Seorang pengurus rumah tumpangan terkejut menemui seekor buaya sepanjang 1.2 meter berada di bawah katil tempat dia tidur pada malam sebelumnya.

Reptilia seberat 136 kilogram (kg) itu dipercayai menyusup masuk ke Rumah Tumpangan Humani dari sebatang sungai berdekatan baru-baru ini.

Buaya tersebut bersembunyi di bawah katil lelaki berkenaan, Guy Whittall selama lapan jam.

“Saya menjuntai kaki semasa duduk di katil selepas bangkit dari tidur. Saya langsung tidak sedar di bawah katil itu ada seekor buaya,” kata Whittall.

Lelaki tersebut yang berusia 40 tahun hanya menyedari kehadiran tetamu tidak diundang itu ketika menikmati sarapan di dapur rumah tumpangan berkenaan.

Ketika itu, dia mendengar jeritan seorang pekerja yang masuk untuk mengemas biliknya.

Beberapa pekerja rumah tumpangan tersebut bergabung tenaga untuk menangkap buaya berkenaan dan membebaskan reptilia itu ke habitatnya.

Mangsa Simbah Asid Jadi ‘Jutawan’

New Delhi  -  Mangsa yang selamat daripada serangan asid ketika masih remaja, memenangi tempat pertama, sekali gus menjadi jutawan, dalam rancangan kuiz televisyen paling popular di India.

Sonali Mukherjee, melecur teruk di muka disebabkan serangan itu yang berlaku ketika dia berusia 17 tahun dan keluarganya menggunakan semua wang mereka untuk rawatannya.

Namun wanita berusia 27 tahun dari New Delhi ini mungkin akan dapat membayar kos rawatan pembedahan plastik apabila memenangi kuiz Who Wants to be a Milionaire versi India.

Sonali yang diserang oleh lelaki yang meminatinya, memenangi Rs25 lakhs (RM148,444), tampil di rancangan itu bersama aktres Bollywood dan bekas Ratu Dunia, Lara Dutta.

Hos rancangan itu, Amitabh Bachchan memuji Sonali kerana berani tampil di rancangan itu.

Katanya: “Haknya untuk keadilan dinafikan, malah dia merayu supaya nyawanya diambil. Itu juga dinafikan kerana eutanasia diharamkkan di negara ini.

“Dia membuat keputusan untuk tidak berdiam diri dan menderita sendirian.

“Kisahnya adalah kisah keberanian yang tinggi. Negara ini memuji dia dan begitu juga kami.

Sonali yang telah melalui pembedahan sebanyak 22 kali sejak serangan pada 2003 berkata, kemenangannya itu bertepatan untuk rawatan yang akan dilaluinya selepas ini.

Dia adalah pelajar cemerlang di Dhanbad, di wilayah Jharkhad ketika diserang dengan bahan kimia dikenali sebagai Tezaab, yang biasanya digunakan untuk membersihkan peralatan berkarat.

Penyerangnya memecah masuk rumahnya dan menyimbah asid ke mukanya ketika dia tidur.

Sonali kini separuh buta dan pekak disebabkan kecederaannya.

Sejak serangan itu, dia tidak langsung menerima dana untuk rawatan dan awal tahun ini dia menulis surat kepada kerajaan India, mengugut untuk membunuh diri sekiranya tidak mendapat bantuan kerajaan.

Insane Six Flags ‘Drop of Doom’ ride packs a 90 mph free fall

If you plan on visiting New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure next year, be sure to bring a sturdy stomach.

The amusement park known for hosting some of the world’s most intense roller coasters is adding a new one to the mix -- and it’s determined to take your breath away. And possibly your lunch.

Rising 415 feet in the sky -- that’s taller than the Statue of Liberty -- the free fall nightmare Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom will become the tallest tower-drop ride in the world when it opens in 2014. The former champ, Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom at Six Flags Magic Mountain outside of Los Angeles, tops out at a ‘mere’ 400 feet. On a clear day, Zumanjaro riders will be able to see all the way to Philadelphia some 50 miles away, park officials told USA Today.

But the ride isn’t just about height -- it’s also about speed. Zumanjaro will reach a hefty 90 miles per hour, and while that doesn’t quite match the speeds of the world’s fastest coasters, it’s a stomach churner, for sure. Even crazier, the entire ride is nestled inside the loop of Kingda-Ka, the crown jewel of Six Flags Great Adventure and officially the tallest roller coaster in the world.

That combo is going to make for some serious thrills.

"You're going to have folks dropping 90 mph," John Fitzgerald, the park's president, told USA Today. "You're going to have the Kingda Ka cars racing around them at the same time. It's really going to be fantastic. Fantastic views, but also terribly exciting."

Zumanjaro will replace the Rolling Thunder, a classic wooden coaster that’s been a park fixture for some 35 years.

You won’t believe what one hour of rain did to a Pittsburgh turf field

School districts install turf fields to try and protect surfaces from the natural elements. Evidently that logic sometimes backfires.

The photo you see above depicts the current state of Russ Grimm Field at Alverton (Pa.)Southmoreland High. The facility has long had a turf field, but now much of it has no surface at all after a torrential downpour of more than two inches of rain in a single hour completely wrecked the turf surface.

The rain damage was first tweeted by Pittsburgh CBS affiliate KDKA and covered by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, which reported that the school has no idea how long the field will be out of commission ... but is expecting it to be off limits for some time.

"There is water damage under the carpet," Alverton superintendent John Molnar told the Tribune. "We don't want anybody twisting an ankle. The main thing is keeping all players safe. We're keeping them off the field, even the part that was not lifted."

Of course, the timing of the water damage is particularly unfortunate, with Southmoreland scheduled to open the 2013 football season on Friday. That game against Jeanette (Pa.) High was scheduled to be played at the now-inoperable Southmoreland turf, but will instead be played at California University of Pennsylvania.

Something tells Prep Rally there will be more games this season played there as well.

Polish Woman Plans To Sleep With 100,000 Men

A POLISH woman is making a bizarre attempt to sleep with 100,000 men in a global sex marathon.

Ania Lisewska wants to travel to every city across the world, dedicating 20 minutes to each ... experience.

"I want men from Poland, Europe and all around the world. I love sex, fun and men," the 21-year-old said, according to the Austrian Times.

According to her Facebook page the mighty marathon began in Warsaw, Poland, last month. She hopes to weave her way across the country before embarking on her international voyage.

"In Poland the subject of sex is still taboo and anyone who wants to fulfill their sexual fantasies is considered a deviant, a whore or mentally ill," she said.

So far she's slept with 284 men, but she'll need a whole lot more notches on her bedpost before reaching her 100,000 goal. It's a visual which her boyfriend is "not thrilled" about, telling Polish website Fakt.pl he "had to come to terms" with it.

To complete her mission she needs to dedicate 33,000 hours to the task.

Calculating the numbers based on the fact an average Polish woman's life span is 81, with 60 years left she must sleep with 1,666 men per year. Or 32 men a week. Or approximately 4.5 per day.

Lisewska has claimed she will only partake in sexual activities on the weekend, which means she'll have to up her quota to 14 men each Saturday and Sunday.

Indian child Roona Begum recovering after hydrocephalus surgery

Tripura, India (CNN) -- The pictures may be difficult to look at, but 18-month-old Roona Begum's story of survival is remarkable.

Soon after she was born in a remote village in northeastern India, Roona was diagnosed with an extreme form of hydrocephalus -- a disorder causing cerebral fluid to build up in the brain.

Doctors had given Roona just a few months to live.

"Day-by-day, her head started growing bigger, she stopped wanting to eat, she would just lie in bed, it became very difficult for us to carry her and take her anywhere," says Roona's father Abdul Rehman says.

Indian baby with 94 cm head recovers

Roona's head grew to a circumference of 94 centimeters, almost triple the size of a normal baby.

There were ten liters of excess fluid inside her brain. Her head was so heavy she could barely move.

Hydrocephalus is more common among infants and older adults. The condition is caused by overproduction, obstruction or lack of absorption of the cerebral fluid in the brain.

The skin of her head has stretched so far, it pulled her eyelids over her eyes, making it impossible for Roona to see.

Her mother, Fatima Begum, would draw eyebrows on Roona with black kohl everyday just to try and make her look more normal.

"She had such a big head, it was scary for people to see her," Fatima explains.

Roona may be Abdul and Fatima's only child, but they couldn't afford to treat her. Roona's 18-year-old father works at a brick kiln earning less than $3 a day. For more than a year and a half, they took care of Roona in their two-room mud hut, with little knowledge or means of doing much else.

In April this year, a journalist took photos of Roona and soon people all over the world including two Norwegian students Natalie Krantz and Jonas Borchgrevink were moved by her condition.

Krantz and Borchgrevink put Roona's photo on a crowd funding website, hoping to raise $1,600 to cover her shunt surgery. In two months, they raised double that amount, and by August 2013, they raised more than $60,000.

They've transferred half of this amount to the charity arm of Fortis Hospital in New Delhi for her treatment. The hospital covered the remaining half of the expenses. The students plan to send the remaining amount for Roona's aftercare.

When Roona arrived at Fortis, her condition shocked even chief neurosurgeon Sandeep Vaishya, who has treated hundreds of children with hydrocephalus.

"We had never seen anything like that and we were completely clueless as to how we'd go about treating her. There was no precedent of treating a child with such an extreme case of hydrocephalus. We learned as we went," Vaishya says.

Initially, Vaishya wasn't hopeful about the surgery. Roona was malnourished, she had major infections on the back of her head from the pressure of lying down all day, and her skin was very thin and delicate.

Cerebral shunt is the standard treatment for hydrocephalus. It's a simple procedure which involves inserting a drainage tube to keep the fluids flowing at the proper rate. But due to the size of Roona's head and her small, frail body, Roona's treatment was particularly challenging.

Vaishya says the surgery posed a huge risk to her life, and at one point they almost lost her.

Much to the relief of her parents and her doctors, Roona has pulled through.

After five surgeries, Roona's head is now down to a circumference of 58 centimeters, still larger than the average 38 to 48 centimeters, but small enough to allow her to live a reasonably normal life.

She constantly moves her head around, she is playful and most importantly, she can now see. She is finally getting the chance to be the baby she really is.

"It feels really good to see her now, she looks beautiful and happy," Fatima says.

Back in her village, Roona has become the center of attention. It's still painful for her to sit up but she smiles a lot, and her eyes, now visible, keep wandering in a frenzied pace.

"We want Roona to read and write once she grows up. Both of us (mother and father) are illiterate so we don't want her to be like us. We want her to have a bright future," Fatima says.

It's too early to tell if Roona will ever be completely normal in her appearance as several operations still lie ahead, but the signs thus far are promising.

Attacks kill at least 66 in Iraq, many more hurt

BAGHDAD (AP) — A coordinated wave of bombings tore through Shiite Muslim areas in and around the Iraqi capital early Wednesday, part of a wave of bloodshed that killed at least 66 people and wounded many more, officials said. The blasts, which came in quick succession, mainly targeted residents out shopping and on their way to work.

In addition to the bombings, the death toll included seven Shiite family members killed when gunmen raided their home and shot them as they slept.

The attacks are the latest in a relentless wave of killing that has left thousands dead since April, marking the country's worst spate of bloodshed since 2008. Coordinated waves of car bombs have hitBaghdad repeatedly each month, sometimes as often as twice per week.

The violence raises fears that Iraq is hurtling back toward the brink of a civil war fueled by ethnic and sectarian differences.

On Wednesday, insurgents deployed explosives-laden cars, suicide bombers and other bombs and targeted parking lots, outdoor markets and restaurants in predominantly Shiite neighborhoods of Baghdad, according to officials. A military convoy was also hit south of the capital.

Security forces sealed off the bomb scenes as ambulances raced to pick up the wounded. The twisted wreckage of cars littered the pavement while cleaners and shop owners brushed away the debris. At one restaurant, the floor was stained with blood, and dishes were scattered on plastic tables.

The northern neighborhood of Kazimiyah, home to a prominent, gold-domed Shiite shrine, was the worst hit. Two bombs went off in a parking lot, followed by a suicide car bomber who struck onlookers who had gathered at the scene. Police said 10 people were killed and 27 wounded in that attack.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the day's attacks, but they bore the hallmarks of the Iraqi branch of al-Qaida. The group frequently targets Shiites, which it considers heretics, and employs coordinated bombings in an attempt to incite sectarian strife.

The Shiite family shot dead at home were found in the largely Sunni town of Latifiyah, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Baghdad. Three children, ages eight to 12, were killed along with their parents and two uncles in that attack, according to police.

Authorities said they had previously fled the town after being threatened, and returned only three weeks ago.

Many of the day's blasts targeted morning shoppers. Among them was a parked car bomb that detonated in a commercial area in the northern Shaab neighborhood of Baghdad, killing nine and wounding 25.

More parked car bombs went off in outdoor markets in the sprawling slum of Sadr City, where five were killed and 20 were wounded. Similar attacks hit the northeastern neighborhood of Shula, killing three and wounding nine; the southeastern Jisr Diyala in an outdoor market, killing eight and wounding 22; and the eastern New Baghdad area, killing three and wounding 12.

Blasts also hit the neighborhoods of Bayaa, Jamila, Hurriyah and Saydiyah, claiming a total of 12 lives.

In Mahmoudiyah, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Baghdad, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a restaurant, killing five and wounding 25.

And in Madain, about 25 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Baghdad, a roadside bomb struck a passing military patrol, killing four soldiers and wounding six others.

Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures, which included more than 180 wounded. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.

The violence follows months of protests by Iraq's Sunni minority against the Shiite-led government that began late last year. Attacks have been on the rise since a deadly security crackdown by security forces on a Sunni protest in April, while the increasingly sectarian nature of the civil war in neighboring Syria is inflaming Iraq's own long-festering differences between Sunnis and Shiites.

In response, clerics and other influential Shiite and Sunni leaders have called for restraint, and security forces have tried to ratchet up counterinsurgency operations.

More than 500 people have been killed so far in August, according to an Associated Press count.

Tak Tahan Sentiasa Diejek, Gadis Ini Bedah Rahang untuk Kelihatan Cantik

Merasa geram kerana selalu diejek dengan sebutan 'Rahang', akhirnya gadis ini meminta doktor untuk membedah rahangnya agar cantik. Hasilnya setelah melalui proses operasi yang menyakitkan, gadis ini menjadi lebih cantik. Mungkin ini yang nama 'cantik itu sakit'.

Leanne Woodfull (20), gadis yang berasal dari Dublin, Ireland, ini sebelum operasi selalu digoda dan tersiksa selama masa remajanya. Bahkan ia disamakan dengan penjahat dalam filem James Bond kerana rahangnya yang menonjol.

"Rahang saya yang besar sangat mengganggu hidup saya dan saya sangat senang akhirnya saya boleh tersenyum dengan percaya diri. Saat saya melihat ke cermin saya lega melihat perempuan 'rahang' yang dulu saya kenal kini akhirnya menghilang," ujar Leanne seperti dikutip dari Daily Mail, sabtu (24/8/2013).

Rahang bawah Leanne mula menonjol disebabkan oleh kawat giginya dipasang pada saat ia berusia 11 tahun. Leanne menyedari adanya perubahan di wajahnya saat ia dipasangi kawat gigi.

Kerana gigi bahagian atasnya nampak agak maju, mereka berusaha untuk menekannya masuk. namun yang terjadi, rahang bawahnya justru menonjol keluar.

Seluruh dagunya mencuat ke depan, akhirnya pada saat usianya 13 tahun, kehidupan sekolahnya berbalik menjadi mimpi buruk. Ia pun mulai terus diganggu dan dibandingkan dengan watak dalam filem Family Guy, James William Bottomtooth III.

"Anak-anak akan menggangu dan bilang 'lihat! Ada Jaws sebenar. Bahkan teman saya sendiri juga mengejek saya seperti itu. Saya menjad bahan jenaka semua orang" ujar Leanne.

"Teman kelas saya akan mencibir 'bulldog' dan salah satu bahkan ketawa melihat saya kelihatan seperti beberapa orang dari Family Guy. Aku tidak tahu siapa itu jadi mencarinya di google dan ternyata sangat mengerikan. Aku merasa seperti gargoyle," cerita Leanne.

"Bahkan pernah satu hari, di sekolah saya dipojokkan di tandas oleh seorang gadis yang menumbuk wajah saya hanya untuk melihat wajah saya," lanjut Leanne.

Leanne cuba menyamar rahangnya dengan membungkusnya wajahnya dengan selendang, menutupi wajahnya dengan make up dan membentuk rambutnya dengan cara yang berbeza. Namun Leanne masih merasa dirinya kelihatan seperti raksasa dan tidak akan pernah boleh jadi normal.

Kerana hal tersebut terus terjadi, Leanne mula berfikir bahawa wajahnya cacat dan mula mengelakkan dirinya difoto. Ia bahkan melarang ibunya untuk menaruh satupun foto dirinya di dalam rumah.

"Di antara usia 12 hingga 18 saya seperti tidak ada. Tidak peduli seberapa banyak keluarga saya mengatakan bahawa saya cantik apa adanya diri saya, saya tetap merasa buruk," ujar Leanne.

"Mereka bilang wajah saya tidak cacat, tapi tetap saja saya aneh dan setiap hari saya teringat hal itu," tambah Leanne.

Leanne sangat ingin melakukan operasi perbaikan pada rahangnya, namun orthodonti nya mengatakan bahawa tubuhnya harus berhenti tumbuh sebelum ia boleh melakukan operasi tersebut.

"Saya semakin tertekan setelah melihat para model yang menakjubkan saat saya pergi ke London Fashion Week Oktober lalu. Saya hibernasi selama lima bulan. Jika saya harus keluar rumah, maka saya akan menanam wajah saya di dalam syal yang tebal untuk menyembunyikan dagu saya yang menonjol, "tutur Leanne.

Operasi yang dilakukan untuk memperbaiki dagu Leanne, dilakukan dengan mematahkan kedua rahangnya dan mengatur kembali mereka pada kedudukan yang baru. Memasukan plat titanium ke dalam mulutnya dan selepas lima jam operasi, wajahnya pun berubah.

Doktor mengatakan bahawa operasinya berjalan sukses namun sarafnya telah rosak, dan ada risiko yang membuat bibirnya bahagian bawah dan dagunya akan mati rasa selamanya.

"Awalnya saya bimbang itu bermakna saya akan berantakan, tapi saya bersedia menghadapinya jika ia bermakna saya tetap akan mempunyai wajah yang normal," kata Leanne.

Beruntungnya Leanne tidak menderita masalah saraf yang serius, dan ia mengatakan ia merasa lebih positif menghadapi masa depan dari sebelumnya.

"Saya sekarang selesa di depan kamera dan saya berharap dapat masuk televisyen untuk menjadi pembawa acara satu hari nanti," ujar Leanne.

"Kawan saya bilang saya kelihatan cantik dan saya benar-benar merasa cantik untuk pertama kalinya dalam hidup saya," tambah Leanne.
