The Return Of The Scrunchie? Make Like Cressida Bonas And Go Back To The '90s

The Return Of The Scrunchie? Make Like Cressida Bonas And Go Back To The '90s
Ashish S/S 2013- scrunchie inspiration for Cressida's Glastonbury 'do?
Ever since we spied them on the heads of Olympic gymnasts during last summer’s games, we can’t help but notice that the good old 90’s scrunchie really is popping up everywhere. At Ashish’s spring/summer 2013 show, models strutted down the catwalk with effortlessly messy topknots secured in place with white scrunchies, and even Hilary Clinton made headlines last year for wearing this much-debated hair accessory. So, when we spotted Cressida Bonas at Glasto on Saturday wearing a white scrunchie, we reckon this trend might just be on to something. A scrunchie revival, you say? Well, indeed!
Popularised during the mid-'80s, the scrunchie craze reached its peak in the '90s, but quickly became passé as an accessory and has definitely had its fair share of bad rap over the years. Crucified by Carrie Bradshaw in that infamous episode of Sex and the City when she claimed that ‘real’ New York women would never wear a scrunchie, the hair accessory’s popularity dwindled faster than our love for The Body Shop’s White Musk.
Fast forward to 2013 and famous fans of the scrunchie include Sienna Miller, Uma Thurman, Whitney Port and Mary-Kate Olsen to name a few. Even catwalk queen Cara Delevingne was snapped up by quirky fashion brand My Crazy Scrunchie to be the face of their new campaign, definitely putting the ‘cool’ back in scrunchie.
Still not convinced? Ever thought about the benefits wearing a scrunchie has for your hair? As a snag free band, the scrunchie won’t cause breakage, plus available in such a bright range ofcolours (get yourself down to American Apparel), you’ll never be rummaging in your handbag for a little hair tie ever again, and until you need to wear it, a scrunchie looks pretty chic on your wrist, too.
Check out our best scrunchie moments for some '90s-inspiration. If it’s good enough for Cressida and Cara, it’s definitely good for us…

Jourdan Dunn's boobs too small for Dior's Paris Couture Fashion Week show?

British model Jourdan Dunn took to Twitter after being dropped from the Christian Dior Paris Haute Couture fashion show today, revealing that her boobs were considered 'not right' for the look.

Though designer Raf Simons has already being criticised for selecting a 'pointedly white' model cast in his runway shows (despite joining Dior in 2012 after John Galliano's departure), Jourdan laughed off the runway sacking with a few sarcastic Tweets.

Justin Bieber’s new music will end ‘witch hunt’

Justin Bieber’s new music will end ‘witch hunt’

Justin Bieber’s new music will silence his critics.
The singer’s manager Scooter Braun says Justin’s forthcoming album and single should “end the witch hunt” against the 19-year-old.
Justin has been the subject of a slew of unpleasant tabloid stories over the last year.
Among the reports, he allegedly swore at a paparazzo, feuded with his neighbour and was two hours late for a London concert.
"We're hoping the witch hunt is going to end when he really just speaks for himself in the music," Scooter told MTV News. "We decided there needs to be a way to release these songs in a different way than the normal album to be able to allow him to express himself in music while dealing with so many different bulls**t stories every single day."
The pint sized singer recently announced his forthcoming single would be entitled Heartbreaker.
Scooter revealed the Canadian has written “so many” songs on the road and hinted at an end of year release date in a different format.
"We're going to do it in a way that's very unique, so when you see Heartbreaker, know it's coming directly from him and don't think of the normal ‘Oh this is my single and this is going to be on the album'.” Scooter added.
The new tracks are billed as a “music journal” and marks the singer’s first album since 2012’s Believe.

Jennifer Lopez unaware of rights issues before Turkmenistan visit -publicist

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Jennifer Lopez would not have performed a private concert in Turkmenistan at the weekend had she known about charges of human rights violations in the Central Asian nation, her publicist said on Monday.

Human rights campaigners, who accuse Turkmenistan's government of restricting free speech and jailing political opponents, criticized Lopez for performing at the concert attended by Turkmen President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on Saturday.
The 43-year-old singer came under particular scrutiny after singing "Happy Birthday" to Berdymukhamedov at the event, which was put on for local executives of the China National Petroleum Corp in the resource-rich desert nation.
"The event was vetted by her representatives, had there been knowledge of human-right issues of any kind, Jennifer would not have attended," Lopez's publicist Mark Young said in a statement.
"This was not a government sponsored event or political in nature," the statement added.
Rachel Denber, deputy director for Europe and Central Asia at Human Rights Watch, commended Lopez for coming clean about the performance but said any sort of vetting on the country should have been easy.
"Just do a few Google clicks to look up their human-rights record," she said. "It's hard to know why they (pop stars) gravitate towards these unsavory leaders. It's worth noting that these leaders want public noticeability and prestige that these celebrities offer."
Young said the birthday song was not in Lopez's contract for the show but the company had made a "last-minute 'birthday greeting' request" which she obliged.
Berdymukhamedov became Turkmenistan's president in 2006 after the death of Saparmurat Niyazov, who took absolute control of the former Soviet republic following independence in 1991.
Berdymukhamedov's regime has been accused by Western states at the United Nations of systemic repression of its 5.5 million people, but the country, which has world's fourth-largest known natural gas reserves, enjoys support from fellow Islamic and Asian nations.
Young said there had not been any discussion of Lopez donating her performance fee to charity. Other pop stars, including Mariah Carey and Beyonce, did donate their fees after coming under fire for performing for the family of former Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi.

Facebook chief marches in SF gay pride parade

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg holds a media event at Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California, on March 7, 2013

Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg joined more than 700 of the leading social network's employees to march in a euphoric San Francisco gay Pride Parade that drew more than a million people.
Zuckerberg and others in the Facebook contingent used ink pads and rubber stamps to temporarily brand 'like' onto people's skin as the 250 official parade entries made their way through the heart of San Francisco on Sunday.
More than 1,500 photos from the parade were on display at Zuckerberg's Facebook page.
This is the third year that Facebook has taken part in the San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Parade.
The typically festive event was infused with additional energy due to a landmark ruling by the US Supreme Court which cleared the way for same-sex marriages to resume in California on Friday.
Two days earlier, the court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which denied federal benefits to married gay and lesbian couples by strictly defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
The court also said a case on Proposition 8, a 2008 California voter initiative prohibiting same-sex marriage in the nation's most populous state, was improperly brought before them.
That 5-4 decision enabled the justices to dodge the thorny issue of whether same-sex marriage is a constitutional right.
More than 15 million posts, comments and other 'interactions' along with more than 25 million pictures were part of a 'colorful conversation' that erupted on Facebook after DOMA was overturned, according to the social network.

About 70 percent of Facebook members in the United States are connected to a friend who has identified themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual at the social network, according to Facebook's Alex Walker and Robert D'Onofrio.

Crystal Lee is the youngest SIFF Best Actress

Malaysian born child actress Crystal Lee became the first 10-year-old to win Best Actress at the Shanghai International Film Festival, the youngest actress ever to win the prestigious accolade.
As reported on Hong Kong Herald, Crystal, who portrayed Nick Cheung's character's neighbour in Dante Lam's upcoming movie, "MMA" (also known as "Unbeatable") had to stand on tiptoe during her speech as the microphone was too tall for her.
Crystal, who was all smiles, greeted the audience in Malay, English, Japanese and Cantonese, and said, "Good evening everyone! First, I want to thank the director and film company for giving me this opportunity. I also have to thank the judges. Thank you all."
Meanwhile, actor Nick Cheung was full of praises for little Crystal, saying, "It is very difficult to win an award here due to many other international competitors. I couldn't believe that Crystal had just won the best actress award. She is the youngest film Queen ever."

Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton have split up.
The 'Boomerang' singer and the Formula 1 racing driver - who have been dating on and off for five years - have reportedly called time on their relationship after their hectic work schedules meant that they hardly spent any time together as a couple.
Nicole - who is based in the US - has just reclaimed her seat on the 'The X Factor' UK judging panel and is currently dashing around the country for auditions, while Lewis - who lives in Switzerland - has been focusing on his racing career and has been competing around the globe.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''It's so hard to keep up a relationship when they're barely in the same country as each other.
''Both have supported each other in their careers and will continue to do so. But the nature of their work ultimately cost their relationship.''
The split comes just two weeks after the 28-year-old star hinted that he wanted to propose to the brunette beauty within the next year.
He said previously: ''We've been together for five years, which is quite a milestone really.
''But hopefully [I'll propose] in the near future before we get to six years.''

Naomi Campbell made a surprise return to the runway for Versace on Sunday night (30.06.13).
The 43-year-old supermodel opened the show for Versace couture at Paris Fashion Week yesterday evening, marking her first time back on the catwalk since she was violently attacked and robbed on a Paris street last December.
The timeless beauty commanded attention in a sheer bejewelled basque which showed off her long legs, and paid an emotional tribute to creative director Donatella Versace's late brother Gianni.
Naomi said: ''I'm so happy to be here in Paris tonight to walk for Donatella. We've known each other over 25 years now. Straight away I felt like part of the family, everybody was so warm and supportive. And of course there was Gianni.
''Apart from being one of the most inspirational and respected of designers of all time, he was like a brother to me... always there in good and bad times the memory will never fade.
''So as you can tell this is an emotional evening for me. It really is a great privilege to be here.''
Naomi - who hadn't walked for Versace in 15 years - was greeted by cheers from the surprised fashion pack as she emerged onto the runway.
Donatella added: ''I started this Atelier Versace collection by dreaming about the perfect aesthetic of the black-and-white era.
''I wanted to make it new, and pictured a sexy and sophisticated woman with a strong attitude. Only a true icon like Naomi Campbell could open this show.''
The fashion legend has supplied Naomi with vintage Versace clothes for the filming of the UK version of new Sky Living modelling reality show, 'The Face'.
Uma Thurman, Emma Roberts and Zachary Quinto watched Naomi strut down the catwalk from their prime position in the front row.

Work keeps Hrithik from being face of Maharashtra

By Glamsham Editorial
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been very instrumental in promoting Gujarat, indeed the state is lucky that they have such iconic star as their brand ambassador. Will it be the same in case of the state of Maharashtra!?
Hrithik is currently busy wrapping up his super hero film - KRRISH 3 and has two more films lined up post that. His busy schedule keeps him away from being the face of Maharashtra. Roughly a year ago, the state government had approached the actor to become the face of Maharashtra, but due to a packed schedule, he could not make time for the same.
Hrithik however, insists that being the face of the state would be "an absolute honor" for him. An actor who is usually known to get involved with his projects immensely has a jam packed calendar. Hrithik believes it is not only a compliment but also a huge responsibility to become the face of the state. It requires a lot of time and dedication.
Meanwhile, Hrithik is caught up with the promotions of KRRISH 3 that is set to release on November 4. Commenting on the first-of-its-kind motion poster that he recently launched, he says, "I personally like it, so I'm happy. The desire has always been to give people something new."
Well people... if not Hrithik Roshan, than who else can be the face of the Maharashtra? Any suggestions?

Hulk Hogan has hinted he isn't happy about his daughter Brooke's engagement.
The wrestling legend, 59, is the only member of his family not to publicly congratulate the former VHI reality TV star, who got engaged to Dallas Cowboys player Phil Costa on Saturday night (29.06.13) in Las Vegas, and he also posted a mysterious message on Twitter on Sunday morning (30.06.13), suggesting he wasn't impressed by his daughter's news.
He wrote: ''Where's the truck that ran over me twice? Hogan and Vegas doesn't work brother HH''
Brooke, 25, posted a photo of the proposal, believed to have taken place on a balcony at the Bellagio hotel, on her Instagram profile and wrote: ''Happiest moment of my LIFE. I am marrying my best friend. I wouldn't choose anyone else. I am so lucky and so grateful.''
She also posted another blurry photo with the caption: ''I look scary but this is the face of total SHOCK.''
The former 'Brooke Knows Best' star appears to have the full support of her brother Nick, 22, and her mother Linda Hogan who both offered their congratulations.

Katie Price admits her son Junior Andre is starting to get a big head because of the constant media attention surrounding her family.
Katie Price worries fame is having a negative effect on her children.
The glamour model - who has Junior, eight, and Princess Tiaamii, five, with her ex-husband Peter Andre and 11-year-old Harvey from a past relationship with Dwight Yorke - has admitted the constant media attention has started to go to Junior's head and he has been displaying diva-like beviour recently.
She told The Independent on Sunday: ''He wants to go on 'Britain's Got Talent'; he wants to present 'Jeremy Kyle'; he wants a Lamborghini. He keeps telling me he's famous, and I'm trying to tell him that just because his father put him on his TV show, that doesn't make him famous himself.''
Katie - who is married to builder Kieran Hayler - insists she won't make any more fly-on-the-wall reality shows for ITV2 and prefers to preserve most aspects of her privacy nowadays after years spent on the front page of every magazine.
She said: ''When I was married to Pete, I don't know what I was thinking. Everything we did was documented, every party, every trip, on the telly, in magazines. It's not healthy.''
However, the 35-year-old star doesn't regret putting her son Harvey - who was born blind and has been diagnosed as autistic - on television because she believes it's important to boost awareness of raising children with disabilities.
Katie said: ''It's important to talk about living with, and coping with, a child with disabilities. I've checked with his teachers, his school, and they all agree.''

Lindsay Lohan is coping well without Adderall.
The 'Liz & Dick' star initially ''lacked energy'' after being forced to come off her medication, which she claimed was to treat her ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), after entering rehab but is doing much better now.
A source told gossip website TMZ.com that although the 26-year-old actress kicked up a huge fuss after being stripped of her medication, she is finally okay to be Adderall-free after recently moving from the Betty Ford Centre to Cliffside in Malibu, California, to complete her 90 days of court-ordered treatment.
The insider said that Lindsay's new medical team think she was wrongly diagnosed with ADD as a child and never needed the medication.
The 'Mean Girls' star is due to complete her treatment on July 31, which is part of a plea deal she struck to avoid jail after lying to police officers about driving in a car accident last year, and has told friends she is changing her ways.
A source previously revealed: ''She's 100 per cent determined to never go to rehab or get arrested again. She's serious this time and she's finally taking direction. She gets up at 7am, she's never late to the group meetings and she's the first one in the van when they go to AA meetings.
''She's still smoking but the techs tell patients not to try quit two addictions at once. She has also been told to stay away from dating for a year and she's up for it.''
